Principal's Welcome

Thank you for your interest in Dromore High School and welcome to our website, which I trust you will enjoy exploring.

The High School has traditionally been a rural school and we aim to ensure that Christian values permeate school life. We believe that a happy and well ordered atmosphere can best support our pupils in coping with the pressures they will face and also help them to cultivate the self-confidence so crucial in adolescent development.

High quality and passionate teaching encourages each pupil to realise their academic potential so that they take the best possible results into a qualification-focused world but, equally significantly, pupils are encouraged to acquire skills, confidence and leadership qualities through participating in a broad range of cultural and physical activities and taking on a variety of responsibilities.

Entry into our school is by application and subsequently admission criteria are applied. Academic results bear easy comparison with any other school in the district and indeed within the province, and value-added analysis suggests most pupils exceed their potential inside and outside the classroom.

We challenge, inspire and support our students as individuals to grow intellectually, personally and spiritually and thereby to achieve their best. We also encourage our students to refuse to accept that things have to be the way they are and to believe in larger possibilities for good because education should be an instrument for reforming and reshaping society for the better.

Successful education requires a partnership between school and home in which the values and aspirations of each reinforce one another. Hence we encourage a constructive dialogue between home and school.
